Homeschooled: Beat the Heat

Join Bartender Barry on Friday, June 26 to learn how you can beat the heat with four refreshing and easy-to-make summer cocktails — right from the comfort of your home.

We’ll be making five drinks in total — four recipes provided by us and you get to make one of your own. We’ll also let you know exactly what supplies and ingredients you’ll need to get prior to the class. For an additional fee, we’ll deliver some of the major ingredients to you. For the cocktail kit, you must be located in the Philadelphia area.

During the class, you’ll learn a brief history of the featured cocktails and spirits, proper bartending techniques, and the baseline knowledge to make countless variations. There are only ten spots available. Register today and we can’t wait to see you there.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. What is Webex

    • Similar to Zoom, Webex is one of the leading platforms for video conferencing, online meetings, screen share, and webinars.

  2. Do I need to create a Webex account to participate in the class?

    • While you are not required to create a Webex account, making one may reduce the chance of you experiencing any issues while logging onto the webinar. Once you complete your registration, you will receive a link that will allow you to hop onto the webinar the day of the event. This link is only meant for you and cannot be shared.

  3. What materials do I need for the class?

    • We recommend getting the following if you do not already have them. You can purchase most, if not all of the following from the home bar supply store Art in the Age or via Amazon:

      • Cocktail Shaker: While there are many different types of cocktail shakers, any will do for this course. You will definitely need one to participate in the class. Our favorite of course is the tin on tin shaker.

      • Jigger: Jiggers allow us to measure our ingredients so that we are precise. If you don’t have enough time to purchase a jigger, a teaspoon and tablespoon set will do.

      • Strainers: Strainers are one of the most essential bar tools. While there are three main types of strainers — Hawthorne, Julep and Fine Mesh — you’ll be able to make it through the course with just a Hawthorne strainer.

      • Citrus Squeezer: Some of our drinks will call for fresh citrus juice. You can purchase a citrus squeezer or you can opt to hand squeeze. It’s up to you.

      • Muddler: For one of our drinks, we’ll be muddling some fresh mint with a few other ingredients. If you don’t have a muddler on hand, you can use a large wooden spoon.

      • Blender: We’re going to show you how to make the perfect summertime frosé. You will definitely need a blender for this class.

      • Ice, Ice and More Ice: Outside of alcohol, ice is next most important ingredient to making cocktails. We’ll go over the different forms of ice during the course. Make sure to prepare enough ice ahead of time. You definitely don’t want to run out of ice as a bartender.

  4. Where can I buy alcohol during the quarantine?

  5. What ingredients will I need?

    • We’ll send over a full list of ingredients once you have registered for the event.

  6. I have a different question that has not been addressed. Who do I contact?

    • You can contact Barry at barry@bartenderbarry.com
