Jubilee

ABOUT

Happy Juneteenth! June 19, 1865 marks the date when the last remaining enslaved African Americans in the Confederacy were emancipated — more than two years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Juneteenth — also known as Freedom Day or Jubilee Day — is a national American holiday that originated in Texas and is now celebrated across the United States. With Texas being the most remote of the slave states, many enslaved African Americans did not learn of their emancipation until after the Civil War ended. Nearly 250,000 people to be exact. Today’s festivities include rodeos, festivals and barbecuing. However, a major focus of the holiday includes education and self improvement. You can learn more about Juneteenth here.

To celebrate, we decided to make a breakfast cocktail to help you kick off your day with three of our favorite Black-owned brands: Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Whiskey, Black & Bold Medium Roast Coffee, and Lokal Artisan Food’s The Only French Toast Seasoning You’ll Ever Need ™ . Cheers to your new favorite spiked iced coffee recipe.
