Sidecar

ABOUT

Celebrate the new year — and new decade — with this classic cognac cocktail.

The base spirit for this cocktail is cognac — a type of brandy made exclusively from grapes. In order for a spirit to be classified as cognac, it must be made the in Cognac region of France, twice distilled in copper pot stills, and aged for at least two years in a very specific type of French oak barrels.

For this sidecar, we used Martell Cognac — the oldest continually operational cognac brand in the world. In addition to fresh lemon juice, we used Grand Marnier — a cognac based French orange-flavored liqueur.

This drink is best served in a cocktail or coupe glass. A sugared rim and lemon twist garnish are optional.
