Celebrate National Mojito Day with this sweet and slightly spicy spin on the Mojito. Made with with a mint ginger syrup, fresh lime juice, a whiskey, this drink is perfect for both the summer and wintertimes.

INGREDIENTS
5 - 10 mint leaves
1/2 lime, cut into wedges or 3/4 oz. lime juice
1 oz. mint ginger syrup
1.5 oz. whiskey
Club soda
INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare the mint ginger syrup syrup by adding 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, handful of mint, and a few slices of fresh peeled ginger to a saucepan.
Bring mixture to a boil
Reduce heat and let simmer on low heat for 5 - 10 minutes
Let syrup cool completely and then strain through a fine mesh strainer
Place the ingredients in a tall or collins glass in the following order: mint leaves, limes wedges, mint ginger syrup
Muddle well
Add whiskey and then fill with ice
Fill with club soda
Gently stir
Garnish with additional mint or candied ginger
