Irish Cocoa Buie
ABOUT
Happy National Hot Chocolate Day! Celebrate with our spiked version of the chocolate drink created more than 2,000 years ago.
Hot chocolate is believed to have been created by the Mayan people more than 2,000 years ago in what is now known as México. The drink was originally served cold and made by mixing ground cacao paste with cornmeal, water, chili peppers, and other spices. In the Mayan civilization, it served as a digestif, consumed by the elite after a meal to aid with digestion.
In this cocktail, we add Drambuie — a Scotch based liqueur made with honey and a combination of various herbs and spices. We also top this drink off with Baileys Irish Cream — an Irish cream liqueur made with cream, cocoa, and Irish whiskey.
This cocktail is best served in an Irish Coffee mug. Crushed graham crackers and marshmallows are optional garnishes.
