La Tulipa
ABOUT
It’s B-A-N-A-N-A-S! We made our first spirit infusion with two of our favorite things: whiskey and bananas. Check out our springtime riff on one of our favorite cocktails: the Boulevardier.
The tulip is said to traditionally signal the arrival of Spring. As one of the most recognized and beloved flowers, they are not too big, elegant, or bright. Just like a tulip, our La Tulipa is just right.
The base spirit for this cocktail is banana infused Naked Grouse Blended Scotch Whisky. We took two perfectly ripe bananas (sliced) and two cups of Naked Grouse, and let them sit in a mason jar for two weeks. Tucked away in a cool, dark cabinet, we shook the infusion daily. At the end of the two weeks, we stained our whisky; first through a tea strainer. However to get a crystal clear whisky, we strained it once more through coffee filters. While this final method is time consuming, it is worth it in the end. The final result is a mouthwatering whisky that tastes great in a cocktail and even on its own.
For the sweet vermouth, we used Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth — the oldest and most sought-after red vermouth. Lastly, there is no Boulevardier without Campari: a popular bittersweet orange liqueur.
This drink is served in an old fashioned glass with an orange peel garnish.
